magneticpole.com was founded on July 20, 1999 by Peter Vasiliauskas.
Details follow.
Who? Just myself. So far. What? What does magneticpole.com do? It keeps me busy. And entertained. What can it do for you? I have considered the concept of doing web development for others, but have not as yet explored that option. Having not advertised, I do not expect any clients, but would likely accept a contract job if the conditions were adequate. I have done HTML-only web work in the past for University of Dayton Computer Science Department, QwicNet, and Optimal PC Solutions, but have progressed in both tools and skills since that point. Other than the professional, magneticpole.com is here for you to read and download to amuse yourself. I attempt to maintain up-to-date information on magnetic pole reversal and other topics as I see fit. No promises. Where? The web server resides in my closet in my house in Ohio. When? The first magneticpole.com page went up July 20, 1999. I was married July 20, 2002. I typed this information in March 5, 2003. It's all just one big coincidence. Why? Why did I pick the domain name magneticpole.com? To begin, all of the good domain names were taken long ago. I chose a ".com" to stick with the standard of the time. "magneticpole" was chosen because it easily functions as a destination. I can tell people to go there, and they have a virtual place in their mind. I was also interested in the concept of magnetic pole reversal. I still maintain some of that interest, most likely because I run the magneticpole.com domain. How? A man, a dream, a server, putty, vi, php, and too many hours. (Just ask my wife. Well, about the hours part anyway.) |
